Eleanor (Ellie) Bender (nee Klein), 97, spouse of William (Bill) (deceased) Fairview Park, died at 0130 July 4, 2015, at Manor Care Nursing Home. Survived by sister, Betty McManus, and brother George Klein, both of Stoneham, Massachusetts, nieces and nephews from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and the surrounding Cleveland area; the couple had no children.

Ellie never wanted to be a golf widow when her husband Bill was alive, so she too joined a golf league at Lakewood Country Club, where she and her husband enjoyed the company of many friends. Following his passing, she continued the league, and also took up bowling. She was often times lonely, but her door was always open for neighbors to stop in, and she always welcomed them. One day she received a gift from one of those neighbors, an adult cat that she promptly called Jo-Jo, the first pet that she had in her 95 years, and one that she asked about the day before she passed.

Her request for “no service, no memorial, and no showing,” was her belief that she should be visited while she can enjoy the visit. Her wishes will be honored as will the friendship that was shared.
