Glenn Cook 88, of Brooklyn Hts., went home to be with His Savior and Lord on September 10, 2018.  He was born on April 7, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to Arthur and Mary (Kanyuck) Cook. He graduated from Cuyahoga Heights High School in 1948.  He was owner and operator of Glenn Cook and Sons Greenhouse in Brooklyn Heights. He was a Fireman for the Village of Brooklyn Heights from 1956 to 1965.  He then served as a councilman for the Village of Brooklyn Heights from 1966 to 1969 before being reappointed as a Fireman for the Village of Brooklyn Heights in 1970 to 1978 at which time he was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief.   In 1980 he was promoted to Fire Chief and served in that position until 1998 at which time he retired from the Fire Department. In all, Glenn dedicated himself in service to his fellow neighbors and citizens of Brooklyn Heights for 42 years.   He also drove a school bus for Cuyahoga Heights Schools from 1985 through 2008. At one time, he coached Village baseball and was a Boy Scout Leader. Glenn loved to spend time gardening, and watching his favorite sports teams on television (Indians, Browns, Cavaliers, Buckeyes). Glenn is survived by Doreen, his wife of 70 years, sons Ken (Susan), Randy (Kathy), Larry (Penny), Gordon (Cuba), daughter Cyndi (Jeff) Boyer, 12 Grandchildren, and 3 Great Grandchildren with 1 more, due in October.  He was preceded in death by his parents. Glenn was a gentle, humble man loved and respected by those who knew him. He will be dearly missed as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, as well as a public servant, role-model and encourager to many.

The Brooklyn Heights Fire Department and Mayor Procuk invite you to attend a brief memorial service honoring retired Chief Glenn Cook on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 5:30 pm in the Fire Station at 345 Tuxedo Ave., Brooklyn Heights, Ohio.  Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony.  Please R.S.V.P. to Donna Tesar at 216-749-4300.

    I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Cook’s passing. He was my elementary school bus driver. Mr. Cook was a favorite among his students he drove to school each morning. He was always so happy and made me feel welcomed and safe. A humble and good man. Prayers for your family and friends.
