June Lambert

Lambert June2

June Lambert (nee Canterbury), 87, entered eternal rest on January 13, 2016. Cherished wife of Samuel L. Lambert, Sr. for over 60 years. Loving mother of Samuel L. Lambert, Jr. (late Elizabeth) and Maria A. Melchiorre (John). Proud, dear grandmother to Alexandra and Zachary Melchiorre.

June’s family was her sunshine.

June was born on June 9, 1928 in Rock Creek, WV. Her father and brothers were coalminers. June is preceded in death by 10 of her siblings: Dillie Mae, Oliver, John, Marietta, Oscar, Herman, Winifred, Arly K, Raymond Carson, and Barbara, plus many other loved ones. She is survived by her youngest brother, Donald Canterbury. June came to Cleveland with her sister, Barbara in 1952. There she met her husband, Sam. They were neighbors. Sam swooned her over chocolate milkshakes and a mutual love of her Mercury convertible. They enjoyed polka music and entertaining. Their life evolved around Sam’s work, the funeral business. She loved to cook and bake. Learning many recipes from Sam’s grandmother, June made wonderful Hungarian foods. June was known for her jewelry, white nail polish, and Revlon’s Cherries in the Snow lipstick. No one left their home hungry or thirsty. June and Sam took in strangers over the years and corresponded with soldiers during the Vietnam War. Her generosity cannot be compared.

Private services for immediate family only prior to cremation. Memorial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in June Lambert’s name to the Western Reserve Masonic Community Attn: Business Office/Donations 4931 Nettleton Road Medina, Ohio 44256 where June called her home for the last four years and was loved by so many.
