Mary Louise McGill

Mary Louise McGill (née Wyatt), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, surrounded by her children. She was 94 years old. Mary was born on June 20, 1931, in New Philadelphia, OH, to Frank and Josephine Wyatt. She spent her career as the church administrator of Christ the King Church in North Olmsted, Ohio where she was the heart of church activities, and a steady presence for many. She is survived by her three loving children: Brian McGill (Susan), Barbara Semroc (Todd), and Judy Srail (Randy). Mary’s legacy lives on through her seven grandchildren: Sarah Pubentz (Ryan), Mitchel Drellishak (Meg), Eric Drellishak (Jillian), Abigail DeCoster (Kyle), Allison Srail, Tyler Srail, and Morgan Gougler (Carl), as well as her nine great-grandchildren: Berlyn, Lillian, Harlow, Isaac, Avery, Everett, Eden, Owen, and Madalynn Jude. She was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Moore, and her parents, Frank and Josephine Wyatt. Mary lived a full life, defined by her joy for family, faith, and staying active. A passionate lover of the outdoors, she enjoyed hiking and walking well into her later years. She was an avid puzzler, always challenging herself with Sudoku, word puzzles, and a good game of bridge. She was a sports enthusiast, particularly fond of watching and playing golf, and the Cleveland Browns. She treasured her view of the river from her condo in Olmsted Falls and was especially fond of the natural beauty of national parks, Japan, and Israel, where she was baptized in the Jordan River. Her love for life extended to music, dancing, and literature. She was an avid reader of mystery novels and health magazines. She adored music and found great joy in ballroom dancing. Competitive by nature, Mary had a spirit of fun and play. We will fondly remember her whenever we enjoy a glass of red wine and/or a piece of dark chocolate, as these were two of her favorites. Mary’s faith was central to her life. She dedicated countless hours to prayer and devotion and found peace in the rhythms of her spiritual life. Her family remembers her devotion to them, and for the special way she’d get down on the floor to play with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren—even well into her eighties. She was truly the matriarch of her family, and her presence will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on September 27, 2025, at 10:30 AM, at Olmsted Community Church, followed by lunch in the Riverside Room in the Wedding Chapel across the street from the church. The church is located very close to various walking trails. You are encouraged to bring your walking shoes and go for a stroll on one of the paths in her memory after lunch. Mary’s final resting place will be in Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia, Ohio next to her Mom and Dad.
