Barbara A. Rochford

Barb Rochford

Barbara Ann Rochford of Berea, Ohio passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Seidman Cancer Center while surrounded by love and care from family and friends.

Barb was born December 28, 1958 in Cleveland, Ohio and resided with her family in Berea. Barb will be missed by so many with special considerations to her husband Patrick Rochford and her sons with their families Chris and Bronwyn (Garner) Rochford and Kevin, April (Campbell) and Ayrianna Rochford. The oldest of four siblings Barb will be missed by her brothers David (Amy) and Joe and sister Patty. Barb was a loving family member to many including several nieces and nephews. She has been reunited in heaven with her parents Jack Scullin and Vivian Ball.

Barb filled sixty years of life on this earth with more love, smiles, laughs and goodwill than many might be able to in sixty lifetimes. Barb’s hobbies included gardening, reading and congregating with her book club, driving along the lakeside in her red mustang convertible, serving the community and most of all she loved bringing people together through family game nights, holiday celebrations, vacations and any other way she could.

Barb truly shined when she was serving others. Barb was a highly involved member of the congregation of the United Methodist Church of Berea where she taught Sunday school, participated in youth work missions with her sons and husband, sang in the NEWSingers choir, and served as a Stephen Minister Leader. Before passing, Barb worked as the volunteer coordinator for Southwest General Hospice and was the We Honor Veterans program coordinator. Through its operation Barb was heavily involved in serving through Southwest General’s home health care and free clinic.
Barb graduated from Berea High School in 1977 and went on to study education at Baldwin-Wallace College where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s of science degree in education in 1981. While at Baldwin-Wallace, Barb was an active member of the Phi Mu sorority and a member of the Kappa Omega chapter of Kappa Delta Pi honor society in education.

A celebration of Barb’s life will be held in the sanctuary at The United Methodist Church of Berea on Sunday September 22, 2019 at 3:00PM in the afternoon. The church is located at 170 Seminary street in Berea Ohio 44017. Pastor Nathan Howe will be leading the service and there will be time to congregate with family and friends following the service. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the leukemia and lymphoma society at donate.lls.org or Luekemia and Lymphoma Society, 6111 Oak Tree Blvd., Ste. 130, Independence, Ohio 44131

  2. Sherry Waskowski says:

Our world is dimmer because God called Barb home. She was a light to all. She was unflappable. She was kind, not just polite or nice, but kind. It came from the depths of her being, so it’s sincerity was never a question.
She lived as a Christian example. I wanted what she had.- the peace of Christ. After we had known each other, for a while, she admitted she had been afraid of me at first meeting. I had no idea I came off that way. I apologized , but her insightful observation never left me. From then on, I paid much more attention to my demeanor. I was changed for the better by her presence in my life, a present from God. So heaven is brighter now.
May Jesus send you all the peace that only He can give.
