Charles F. Thompson

Charles Frank Thompson was born April 2, 1936 to the union of Maggie and Robert Thompson in Sylacauga, Alabama. The family relocated to Detroit, Michigan in 1938. Charles attended Detroit Public Schools. He is a graduate of Chadsey High School. He held various jobs in Detroit that included the use of his handyman skills.
Charles relocated to Cleveland,Ohio and worked as a machine operator at Lamotite Incorporated until the company closed. Soon after he officially retired. Upon retirement, he had more time for one of his favorite hobbies, fishing. He also embarked in other hobbies that included carpentry, sewing, and cooking. He was often affectionately referred to as “Mr. Fix It.”
His parents, two brothers, Robert and Tyrone, and two sisters, Betty and Mary, preceded him in death.
Charles leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Carol; four daughters Benita, Darlene, and Janna’ of Detroit, Michigan, and Yvonne Jackson (Larry) of Cleveland, Ohio; one son, Charles Troy of Brainerd, Minnesota; three brothers: Wali (Dora) of Dallas, Texas, Arthur of Detroit Michigan, and Vernon Green (Tracey) of New Bern, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Mario, Michael, Darrien, and Jwaun of Detroit, Michigan, and Jasmaine, Jamiel, and Jahrie Hamm of Cleveland, Ohio, and Nicholas Jackson also of Cleveland, Ohio; five great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve.

Charles entered eternal rest on April 7, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held Friday, April 14, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Yurch Funeral Home, 5618 Broadview Road, Parma, OH 44134; family and friends will be greeted from 12 NOON til the time of the service.
