Mom

Jeanne Maranos, age 70, born Jean Marie Holt on December 8th 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away on January 14th, 2020. Beloved mother of Maria (Ronnie) Lybrook, and Elly (David) Turacek, grandchildren, Luis and Bailey, great-granddaughter, Lilith, and many beloved friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie (nee` Hanson) and Jack Stephens, former fiance, Thomas Gallagher, and many other beloved family members and friends.

Jeanne was a lifelong animal rights advocate, rescuer, and caretaker. She was strong in her Catholic Christian faith, a talented artist, and in addition to her love of animals, loved her doll collection, feeding birds, nature, theater, classical music, movies, and watching the news and The Weather Channel. Jeanne attended Incarnate Word Academy and Midpark High School. She was a licensed bartender and mixologist in the 1970’s after graduating from the Bartending Institute of Cleveland and the Wine Institute. In the 1990’s she was Restaurant Manager of Athan’s Grill in downtown Cleveland, Commercial Housekeeper for the Holiday Inn Select in Strongsville, and a Stage Crew Member and Personal Dresser for Berea Summer Theater, Strongsville Community Theater, and Greenbrier/Cassidy Theater of Parma Heights. She went on to become an Airport Security Check-Point Supervisor at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

A Memorial Prayer Service will be held for her at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Mary Queen of the Apostles Parish, located at 6455 Engle Road, Brook Park, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ironwood Pig Sanctuary of Arizona, Animal Place Sanctuary of California, or the National Audubon Society.

    We will miss you so much. You were the sweetest and kindest person. You were a second mother to me and I will always remember your lasagna! I will always remember you taking Elly and I to the “Wedgie” concert and being our chauffeur to prom! I love you and will see you again someday.
