Joseph R. Semenovich

Semenovich

Joseph Robert Semenovich, Age 67, beloved husband of 47 years to Nancy (nee Imber), passed away peacefully on January 12, 2022. Loving and devoted father of Shelly (Paul) Orzel, Jolene (Jeffrey) Seuffert, Steven (Lacie) and Nanette (Matthew) Penny . Dearest grandfather of Vincent, Douglas and Edward Orzel; Kara, Nathan and Scott Seuffert; and Madeline and Andrew Penny.

Joseph was born on September 3, 1954 in Toledo, Ohio to the late William and Florence (nee Ellerbrock). He is survived by his sister Charlene (Donald) Mockensturm , brother James Semenovich; brother-n-laws Martin (Judy), Thomas and Michael Imber; and many nieces and nephews.

Joseph graduated from Macomber High School in Toledo, Ohio in 1972 then moved on to study engineering at Toledo University. Joseph dedicated over 46 years of his life working with a start in radio & TV repair. He was a welding inspector at Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station during its construction. He spent many years in the trucking industry as a diesel mechanic and commercial/hazmat driver. For a span of time, he was also a mechanic and service technician in the industrial air gas industry.

Joe’s greatest joy was his family. He cherished spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a handyman who could fix anything and was the go-to dad for advice or help with home or car repair. He loved firing up the grill for a family cookout and giving rides on “Grandpa’s tractor” to all his grandchildren on his John Deere riding lawnmower. An avid family historian, Joe relished in genealogical research tracing he and his wife’s family ancestry back hundreds of years. He produced a genealogical record of his mother’s family history including over 22,000 descendants. A collector of LGB G Scale model trains, he spent many happy days in his train room designing layouts, crafting buildings and town props, installing lights, and running the trains for his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing with his son, son-n-laws and grandsons, and he looked forward to annual fishing trips with his fishing buddies. One of Joe’s grandest accomplishments was building his home from the foundation up with his wife overlooking five beautiful acres where they happily retired together in 2017.

His presence, love and quiet manner will be sorely missed.
