Robert D.V. Thompson III

Robert D.V. Thompson III

June 01, 1962 to November 05, 2021

It is with profound loss and sadness to announce that Robert “Bob” Thompson has succumbed to his battle with heart disease and went to the Lord on November 05, 2021. Bob was a devoted son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his mother, Florence E Thompson (Miklacic), brother Carl E Thompson and sister, Rebecca E Thompson. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert D.V. Thompson, Jr.

Bob was a graduate of Cleveland State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for over twenty years at the Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library as a Maintenance Technician until a premature medical retirement in 2019. Besides his dedication to family and friends, he was an active participant in the Daughters of America for over thirty years. His accomplishments included holding many State and National positions including State Treasurer.

Bob was a devout Episcopalian. He was an active member in the Episcopal Diocese of Ohio for over thirty-five years at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in East Cleveland, Ohio, and Church of the Epiphany in Euclid, Ohio. He volunteered in many church events, including feeding the local community, serving on the vestry, and singing church choirs.

Bob created many kinships and friendships throughout his life. His dry wit, intellectual conversations, and good nature will be missed by all. A memorial service of Bob’s life will take place at the Church of the Epiphany, 21000 Lake Shore Boulevard Euclid, Ohio, on December 5, 2021, at 1:00 PM. Bob’s friends and family are welcome. Masks are required.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Church of the Epiphany in Bob’s name.

  1. Christy Murray says:

I was just about to text a “Star Trek”joke to Bob, when I realized again, that he is no longer here.
I met Bob through his sister, Becky. When we first spoke, I could tell quickly that Bob was very intelligent, and could hold his own in a conversation.
I just happened to be wearing my “Star Trek” sweatshirt, so he went right into “Trekkie” talk.
That was refreshing, as I know so much about “Star Trek.” It’s hard to find “Trekkies” anymore.
Bob was a role model to my son from the time he was 7 and a half years old.
Bob was a great guy. He was quick to lend a helping hand and he could make you laugh by telling you he was a Steelers, Browns, and Patriots fan! He will be missed.

“Live Long and Prosper” in heaven Bob.
