Sophie Cecilia (Urbanick) Sroda, age 79, of Seven Hills, Ohio passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019.
She was born in Conneautville, PA on March 30, 1940, daughter of the late Stephen and Josephine (Smolinski) Urbanick. She married Marion Joseph Sroda of Cleveland, Ohio on June 15, 1963.
Sophie was a kind and generous person who always put the needs of others before her own. Her most cherished memories were made while spending time and traveling with her family and friends. After graduating from Edinboro University, she began her teaching career in 1961. The majority of which was spent teaching first grade at St. Columbkille School in Parma, Ohio. As an educator, she impacted the lives of numerous children and their families.
Survivors include her husband Marion Sroda, her son, Joseph M. Sroda and his wife, Melissa of Evans, GA; her two daughters, Jan M. Wilson of Virginia Beach, VA and Joan M. Bell and her husband, Michael of Castle Rock, CO; 5 grandchildren, Meaghan K. Sroda, Jacob M. Sroda and his wife Jessica, Morgan T. (Wilson) Poole and her husband Alex, Joshua Bell and Jonathon Bell; 3 great grandchildren, Kathryn E. Larsen, Landon M. Sroda and Avery E. Poole; brother, Steve Urbanick of Erie, PA and sister, Mary Jane Parks and her husband, Brian of Linesville, PA, sister-in-law, Donna Rykalla and brother-in-law, Richard Sroda and his wife Cheri and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Sophie was preceded in passing by her two brothers, Joseph Urbanick of Conneautville, PA and Frank Urbanick of Meadville, PA.
Per her request, interment will be private and held with her children. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Sophie’s name to The American Cancer Society to fund research for a cure for Merkel Cell Carcinoma. https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate/memorial-giving.html
