George Alden Rogers III

George passed away in his sleep on Thursday, April 27th, 2017 in Strongsville, Ohio.
George loved his mother, Mary Louise Rogers (nee Staley), brother, Reed Staley Carr Rogers, sister-in-law, Celina Rogers, nephew, Reed Staley Carr Rogers, Jr., niece, Charlotte Ann Marie Rogers, sister, E. Rogers and father, George Alden Rogers, Jr.
George was born in Frankfurt, Germany on June 27th, 1949, the first child of George and Mary Louise. His brother, Reed, was also born there on July 11, 1950.
Following a divorce in 1956, the family moved to Arlington, Virginia, in 1959 and then to Williamsburg, Virginia in 1963. George graduated from York High School in 1967. He attended the University of Virginia and Virginia Wesleyan College prior to his enlistment in the United Stated Army in November of 1969. He took basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and was assigned to the Defense Language Institute- West Coast in Monterey, California where he learned Turkish. He spent the final thirty months at the National Security Agency prior to receiving an honorable discharge in April 1973.
George returned to Virginia Wesleyan College from which he graduated with a double major in History and Political Science in 1976. Returning to California in 1977, George lived in San Jose and worked for the Coast Oil Company as a service station manager. George returned to Washington D.C. in 1979 where he lived for three years and worked for the Arlington County government and a D. C.- based consulting firm.
In 1981, George moved to Boston, Massachusetts where he founded a consulting firm, GAR Resources, Inc. and worked for several federal, state and local employment and training departments.
In 1991, George moved to Strongsville, Ohio, where George worked for MetroHealth Medical center and in, 1992, a consulting firm, The Stanley-Jenkins Corporation.
In 2003, George entered Cleveland State University to pursue a Master of Education. In 2004, George transferred to Baldwin-Wallace University to pursue a similar degree. George completed his degree requirements at Baldwin-Wallace and was awarded a Master’s Degree in Education in May of 2008.
George remembered with fondness and affection his special friends, especially, Carol, Alice, Kathleen, Kathy and Patricia. He especially enjoyed his friends from the Strongsville Rotary Club which he joined in October of 1995 and of which he served as President in 2000-2001. He was proud to have been a member of such a wonderful community service organization.
George also enjoyed being a licensed Basketball official, playing sports, reading, music and travel, with Paris being his favorite city.
